Shandong University of Science and Technology (SUST), founded in 1951, is a multi-disciplinary university, offering comprehensive education in engineering, science, management, humanities, law, economics and education while giving prominence to engineering and the integration of science and engineering. The main campus is located in Qingdao, a charming coastal city in China, and the host of 2008 Olympics Sailing Regatta. With another two campuses situated in Tai’an, a tourist resort well-known for Mt. Taishan, a World Natural and Cultural Heritage site, and Jinan, the provincial capital known as a “city of spring”.
There are 15 colleges, with a total of 72 majors for undergraduates, 76 master’s degree programs and 23 doctoral programs. The university enrolls 35,000 fulltime students including 3,300 masters and doctoral candidates, and 30,000 continuing education undergraduates. SUST has excellent faculty with a total of 2,800, including 245 professors, 426 associate professors and 3 academicians of the Chinese Academy of Science; 1 academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering; 5 foreign academicians of the Russian Academy of National Sciences.
SUST actively promotes international academic exchanges and cooperation to internationalize its education. Currently the university has established partnerships with more then 50 universities and research institutions in more than 15 countries, and carries out a variety of cooperation programs.
